two new magazines, Quilters’ Connection and

Business:
·
Bookcase – carpenter is busy, and may
have an opening by September
·
By-Laws – Linda L and Kate M are bringing these up to date to include such items as: Membership fee - rather than being explicitly indicated in the
By-Laws, and amended each year, will be designated on the Registration Form. As
well, e-mail addresses will be
recorded on the Registration Form to formulate a roster. Committees will be clarified and will reflect what is currently
deemed most useful and representative of the Guild. The Fiscal Year will be changed to June 1st to the end
of May.

Centreville Quilt Show – will be on May
8-9th. Sharon M will be
the pretty face in charge.
Program:
Cathy B indicated the last workshop with Kate
M on Embellishments was a huge success.
·
Faye B will do a hand quilting
demonstration on April 25th, while members will who are familiar
with hand quilting will work on the Quilt of Valour in one hour allotments.
Ruth B originally scheduled for this time will do a paper piecing workshop
in September.

May program will be a Trunk
Show by Susan Tillsey Manley, so be sure to attend on May 13th.

Guest speaker – Jane M spoke about
Quilting Hacks, innovative solutions to a quilting problem, not necessarily
with a quilting tool. Some examples:

Glue stick to hold down
applique until sewn in place
·
Toilet paper rolls to wind
binding
·
Dry eraser pen on doc. protectors
to check off pieces cut of pattern or preview different free-motion
patterns
·
Colour choices for quilts using
paint chip combinations
·
Pool noodles to wrap seasonal
wall hangings
·
Lettuce holder bins for scraps
·
Tin snips for cutting rag quilt
edges
·
Masking tape to reduce slippage
of rulers, and so many more creative solutions
